Module 1 case study and strategy comments:

I believe that picture dictionary and SQP2RS=SQEEPERS are helpful strategies that I have included in my classroom. My student's predicting skills have increased, as they concentrate and think about the pictures from the book to come up with their questions.

Susie's case study:
Dr. Swanson suggests that we think about parent involvement during reading activities. We should also consider the grandparents in assisting Susie's reading abilities. Susie should be encouraged to spend time at the museum and talk about the exhibits that are on display. She is a gifted child and should have challenging materials available for her to read at school and at home. Having challenging materials for Susie will help her motivation and reading levels to increase as she reads. Taking Susie to the museum will help build her background knowledge as well as her interest in different cultures that are on display. Having parents and grandparents involved in Susie's reading is also a rewarding experience for the whole family.
